Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday -- and his readings!

What a beautiful day and month of love, hope and inspiration. . . I had the opportunity to attend a reading at the All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena, CA on Monday, January 16, 2017 honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s holiday. What an awesome experience! From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., individuals throughout the city could come, sit-in and listen to all of Dr. King's readings.

My neighbor invited me to the event, and drove us to the readings. We arrived, listened, and it was heart-felt to see the congregation was beautifully diversified with people of all ages, ethnicity, socio-economic status, etc. It was also a beautiful sight to watch the children come inside and hear the readings. Wow.

After 1/2 hour or so, my neighbor asked me to participate and go up to the pulpit and read, as others were doing. Initially, I said, "No, not me." Then she reminded me of my passionate disability outreach work, and that I should share my "speaking" voice to read Dr. King's work. I said, "OK."

It was a beautiful message of "LOVE." I was truly honored to read this section as it means so much to ALL of us.

Have a great day!
Jarita
